HRL Laboratories Announce New President and CEO
MALIBU, Calif. October 17, 2014 — Effective November 1, 2014, the HRL Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Penrose (Parney) C. Albright as President and CEO of HRL Laboratories, LLC.
Before joining HRL, Dr. Albright was a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) supporting the Intelligence Advance Research Projects Activity (IARPA) as well as the ODNI senior leadership. Prior to this assignment, Dr. Albright was the Director, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), and President, Lawrence Livermore National Security. He also served as the Principal Associate Director for Global Security at LLNL.
Prior to joining LLNL, Dr. Albright was President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Civitas, Group, LLC. He served in the Bush Administration as the Assistant Secretary, Department of Homeland Security, the Senior Director, Office of Homeland Security and the Assistant Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) within the Executive Office of the President. Prior to OSTP, he was a Program Manager in the Advanced Technology Office (ATO) at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Dr. Albright’s early career included a staff position at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) and National Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST).
Dr. Albright received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland and his B.S. in Physics/and Applied Mathematics from The George Washington University. In 2006, he was named a Senior Fellow of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
