HRL Researchers Recognized with Award at the 2010 Intelligent Vehicles Symposium

MALIBU, Calif.—June 26, 2010. Three HRL researchers were recognized at the 2010 Intelligent Vehicles Symposium in San Diego with a Poster Presentation Award of Distinction for their poster session, "Active Safety and Collision Alerts Using Contextual Visual Dataspace."

Drs. Kyungnam Kim, Yuri Owechko, and Swarup Medasani were notified following the conference that theirs was one of five recognized poster presentations among nearly 150 presented during the four-day industry conference sponsored by the IEEE’s Intelligent Vehicle Society.

The researchers' presentation described a contextual visual dataspace (CVD) technology. The CVD combines automated 3D modeling and semantic labeling of a scene with dynamic object detection using cameras located in the environment.

The annual Intelligent Vehicles Symposium welcomes researchers, academicians, and members of industry and government to discuss research and applications for intelligent vehicles and infrastructures.
