HRL Receives Trusted Accreditation in Foundry Services for National Security Programs

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 7, 2008—HRL Laboratories, LLC, has received Trusted Accreditation from the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) in foundry services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and all other U.S. government customers.

HRL's Category 1A accreditation as a trusted supplier of integrated circuits and foundry services is the highest level awarded by the DoD.

The Trusted Foundry Accreditation Program was established to assess and verify the integrity of the companies and processes used to design, develop, manufacture, and distribute critical national-security microelectronic components. HRL has served the DoD, U.S. government agencies, and major contractors in providing microelectronics foundry services for military and aerospace applications since 1960.

"The DMEA accreditation validates HRL's continuing commitment to providing the nation state-of-the-art microelectronics foundry services," said Dr. Charlie Fields, senior scientist in HRL's Microelectronics Laboratory. "We"ve worked very hard to maintain our status as a trusted partner to our military and government customers."

HRL received initial accreditation as a trusted foundry last year from the Trusted Access Foundry Program Office of the National Security Agency. Responsibility for the program has since shifted to the DMEA.

With this two-year re-accreditation, HRL can continue to supply components and devices for national-security assets and programs requiring the highest levels of expertise, integrity, and trust.
